Published fees doesn't seem to be what I'm being charged...

I sell a shuttle service for $12.50 a ride, scheduled using the Square Commerce API fee of 2.9% + .30.

Because I'm doing a lot of small transactions, this is not good, as it comes to .66/transaction which equals 5.3%.

Is there a better way to structure this?

Customers book the shuttle service online, so we don't do POS.

What are the published fees and how do they differ from what you're being charged?

Hi there, @Scottsta 👋 Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Seller Community! We are happy to have you join us here!

Our Online Store and API fee structure is set at 2.9% + .30. The only option to opt into a lower fee here would be to take transactions in person, which it sounds like you do not utilize, at least for now.

If you were open to taking transactions in person, my work-around would be to have your customers simply book their shuttle ride through your Online Store or API, and then have them swipe their card and pay for their ride in person once the service is complete. We realize this is not a perfect solution, but it would drive down the overall cost of your fees.
