Is everyone paying $60 a month on top of point of sales fees? So there is a hidden fee...

I thought the only cost was per transaction. now I see a $60 charge per month. No one seems to be talking about this...

$60 per month is for Square for Retail which is a premium version of Square.  It is not necessary to have to run Square, but it has inventory and PO support and a few other things some people find they want.  there are no hidden fees.

here is the link to it.  https://squareup.com/pos/retail

here is where to turn it off in your subscriptions.  https://squareup.com/dashboard/account/pricing

Admin note: As of March 15, 2018, new subscribers will pay $60 dollars per month, per location (includes 1 free device), $20 per additional iPad point of sale, 2.5% + 10c CP swipe, dip, tap for payments on the Retail App. Most Retail accounts will be migrated to this new pricing model by 5/1, but check your email for updates.

I do not have an actual retail location. I will randomly be taking payments at events, once in a while. Does this $60 per month charge still apply to me? If so, off to PayPal I go.

Also, there only seems to be an App for iOS devices. I have the App for Android but it doesn't seem to connect the app on my phone to my account here, even with the code entered.

Hi @RocketSlugGames! Welcome to the Community.

We don't charge monthly fees like that unless you're subscribed to Retail. If you would like to unsubscribe from it, you can navigate to > Account & Settings > Subscriptions on the dashboard.

I'm a bit confused on the app part. Can you clarify that a little more for me?

I am not sure if my reply was removed or not, it seems to have been.

I am not subscribed but I am constantly reminded by the Setup Guide not going away. Is there any way to cancel the setup guide from its reminders? When you Skip a step it should get rid of that step.

If that doesn't go away and I get constant reminders, I will gladly go to PayPals service.

@RocketSlugGames Unfortunately there's no way to get rid of those notifications unless you click on each one. If you view each one and just click through, it will make the notifications go away for you so you don't ever have to see them again.

Maybe I am doing something wrong but this will not go away. I have Skipped the step and also clicked all the way through the Sub step, even clicked on Subscribe, but I am not going further than that. So in other words, I've clicked on each one, and gone even further.

@RocketSlugGames Hmm yeah it definitely should not be doing that.

Can you reach out to our Support Team so we can have our engineers look into this? We might have to file a ticket for you.

I don't pay an additional amount, however, I use the basic services with no add-ons for marketing, payroll, etc. Unless you added extra modules (marketing, payroll, etc), you should only be incurring your point of sale fees.  It's not a "hidden fee".
