store category icons size and layout

hi, i am new to this website building and have managed to get a fully working store running and a basic website but im not happy with my store front and cannot find a way to change it,

i have my main page with 7 categories on it with pictures on the icon for that category but it looks cheap and tatty and the icons are way too big, is there a way to rearrange them or make them smaller ? i know you can do it with normal gallery but i cannot find a way with the store icons Smiley Sad im pulling my hair out and weebly support is like 3 days plus to reply and gets you nowhere

Thanks for posting, @spenditorwearit. There isn't really a way to shrink the size of the category images on your homepage. One thing you could try is using a regular page as the homepage and adding a categories element to that. There are some different controls visually for it so you may prefer it; it's worth checking out just to see.

You could leave your current homepage intact while you try out an alternative. Go to the Pages tab and add a new page, then click on the page options button and check the box to hide the page from your navigation. This will make it so you can work with it in the editor but it won't be found by site visitors. On that page, drag a categories element from the left onto the page and click on it to connect it to the categories from your store.

thanks for the reply, i have been trying this and getting really frustrated with it to the point im thinking of binning it all and going with a different website builder, i have seen other websites that dont have this issue but i cannot work it out, if you look at my store front now you will see i have added a gallery on there and thats the look i want but i cannot get rid of the categories on the same page without deleting them and losing all my products in the category, i could do a gallery on my home page linking to categories as suggested but how would that work with sub categories, its just all getting confusing Smiley Sad

Hmm... I'm curious - what is it about the size and look of the category images you don't like?
