Updating Downloadable Files?!
We sell downloadable software. So, for example, when someone buys "Product A" for $20.00, they get a link to download "product-a-setup-version-1.exe".
However, we frequently make updates to the software. In this example, we go into Weebly's Product section and remove "product-a-setup-version-1.exe" from the downloadable files and replace it with "product-a-setup-version-2.exe".
Unfortunately, when people who have already purchased the product try to download it again (such as for a 2nd computer), they are forced to download the older file ("product-a-setup-version-1.exe") and they have no access to the newer file.
This is not only incredibly inconvenient, it seems CRAZY. Instead of just storing my most current files on their server, Weebly has to create and maintain a copy of every file ever uploaded, and maintain a complex list that redirects every user to exactly the same file that was on their
Is there a way to fix this?
If not, are there other services (e.g. SquareSpace) that don't have this problem. In the "old days" we used ShopSite and programmed out own interface. This was a hassle, but at least our customers always had access to the most current version of their software.
Thanks!
