Norton says "Dangerous Website Blocked"

We sell PDF files in our shop. Today, somebody bought one, so they were given the download link. When they clicked it, their Norton anti virus kicked in with the following:

<quote>

Dangerous Web Page Blocked

You attempted to access:

http://click.promote.weebly.com/wf/click?up...

This is a known dangerous web page. It is highly recommended that you do NOT visit this page.

Visit Norton to learn more about phishing and Internet security.

<end quote>

I'm assuming it's a false alarm, but lots of people use Norton anti virus. Can anything be done about this?

Thanks

Hi @Nina3 Just to clarify this was the store email that was sent to the customer with the download link? What is the name of your store and the product purchased, please?

Hi Bernadette - Yes, it was a link in the store email they received after the purchase.

This is the store:

https://www.patternscentral.com.au/

And this is the product purchased:

https://www.patternscentral.com.au/store/p1366/70s_Macrame_Reindeer_Pattern_Instant_Download_PDF_3_p...

Thanks.

So do we just have to live with this? People can't download what they buy, because Norton Anti Virus doesn't trust Weebly?

It's probably limited to a specific Norton product, and may be even more limited than that. I would report it as a false positive to Norton so they remove it:

https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

At some point during the process you should be able to enter the URL that it doesn't like.

I'd be a bit more worried if a leading provider of antivirus software said that my web page was "a known dangerous web page" and that it "is highly recommended that you do NOT visit this page". But that's just me, I guess.

Hi @Nina3 I downloaded Norton on my laptop and was able to open both links without running into an error.

Is there any way you can get more specifics from the customer? Maybe they have something enabled in their Norton settings that is preventing them from downloading.

Hi Bernadette - Thanks a lot for doing that! I asked the customer to try again. They just did and they're not getting the virus warning anymore. Maybe Norton updated something from their side? So this seems to be solved. Thanks!

That's good to hear! Definitely let us know if you hear about any other strange warnings.

Our site just got same Norton "Dangerous Website Blocked" warning. www.stclaresgarden.com I put in a dispute with Norton, but can weebly run a scan for malware or other items that might be alerting Norton.

The alert came to a user in Australia. Not sure if that matters.

Please help.

Thanks,

Julie

AVG also reports Weebly pdf download links have malicious phising code and blocks the download. I can't allow this as I depend on working, non-malicous, download links.
