Customer was able to select out-of-stock item

Hello all,

I launched my site a few days ago, so I'm sure the problem is something on my end, lol.

I have a product with 4 variations.  One of those variations had 0 stock, but a customer was able to add 2 to her cart and purchase.  When I went to my Item library, that variation was showing a balance of -2, so I know it wasn't a problem with my original numbers.  When I tried to purchase the same item, both from the desktop and mobile, I was given the "Sold Out" message I expected.  How is it possible, then, that a customer was able to add 2 to her cart and check out?

Thanks for any insight!

Jen

Thanks for posting, @GoinGreenerJen. I'm not exactly sure how that happened, but there is a bug ticket with our engineers to address the circumstances that allowed that to happen. It seems like it's a very specific set of steps that needs to happen since it only happens rarely. Hopefully they resolve that soon!

Thanks, Adam.  Stinks not to have a solid answer/solution, but glad to know it's being addressed and really glad it wasn't something I messed up, lol.

I'm having this same problem. It seems it's not fixed yet 6 months later. Is that correct?

How do you sell your items, @Snefferdy? Are you only selling online through your store, or do you also sell in-person or through a third party service?

I just set up the store and was testing it out. I was able to check out with items in my cart that were already out of stock, and also with items in my cart that exceeded the available stock.

I have since set up the store on Square and, in my tests, it does not suffer from this problem.
