Complex shipping calculations

Hi weelblers

I have a weebly store with ecommerce, but I'm having some issues soriting out shipping. My couriers/freight companies charge by weight OR cubic size, whichever is greater. To add to the mix, some of my goods are considered "dangerous goods" and attract a surcharge on top of the weight/size price. My questions are thus;

1. How do you guys manage the size vs weight issue if a combined order of goods is going to be an unpredictable size? (Weebly allows for weight calculation only) - I mean how does the rest of the internet deal with this??! Surely I'm not alone!

2. Is there a way to force customers to select the "dangerous goods" shipping option if one or more items in their cart qualify as dangerous goods? The logic in this seems pretty simple - If i could flag certain items as "dangerous", the shipping options should automatically filter - but I can't find a way to do such a thing.

Hi @Miniflam!

While our Community denizens should certainly weigh in (no pun intended) with all their strategies when it comes to shipping, I can tell you that I often advise folks that one course of action is building the shipping into the price. (In chatting with @Adam about this topic this morning, he brought that up and also had the idea of adding a note in the product description about how the price includes the dangerous shipping surcharge or oversize item surcharge.)
