How can I change website thumbnail? It is defaulting to a certain photo on my site but I want to select a more specific photo/logo that represents our brand and makes a better first impression when sending the link to potential clients. I googled how to do it and found some code that includes the url for the photo that I want to use and placing that in the page header but didn't work for me.
WIth the classic Weebly drag and drop editor, you can specify a specific image by using a meta tag. Use this URL of an image file with the meta tag like this:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://www.google.com/someimage.jpg" />
Simply replace everything within the double quotes after content= with the URL of your own image, then add it the Header Code field in Settings > SEO in the website editor. You can also do this on a per-page basis by going to the Pages tab, clicking on a page, then adding it to the Header Code field found in SEO Settings. If you haven't already added the image to your site somewhere, you can also add it to a hidden page and then right-click on the image on the hidden page to copy the URL.
For sites built using the Square Online editor, you can do this for every page of your site within the website editor. Navigate to the page, then click on the gear icon on the left and choose Page settings. Go to the Social tab on the popup, then add an image to the Social image option. You can also set one for the whole site by going to Website > SEO & Social Media, click on Update social media, then adding an image on the Social tab of the popup.
Regardless of which editor you have, don't forget to publish afterward. You may also want to use the Facebook debugger to scrape your site again, since Facebook may use older cached images without doing that.
Not sure if this is just out of date information but the answer to this issue is what I need but nothing that you’ve posted here has helped. I’m not sure where to go from here.

Hi Adam, I've followed these steps exactly but the Facebook debugger doesn't show any difference. Do you have any advice?

HI there,
Thanks for the answer to the thumbnail issue. But, I don't understand anything about code. What exactly am I placing in the quotes? And am replace in the text in both quotes or just the url part?
Thank you,
Christian
Great question, @christiancagiga. You only need to replace the URL part of the URL of your image file.
RE: Facebook/Social Media Image when posting my website URL----I've tried to do this using the meta data I've seen through out all of the explanations listed in this thread and the debugging Facebook link, but it's not working.
This is the code I added to my SEO>Header Code
<meta property="og:image” content="https://www.leeannhowlett.com/uploads/1/3/6/2/136216297/published/lee-ann-howlett-audiobook-narrator..." />
Here's what the post looks like when I tried to post it after doing the meta tag
I'm wanting this picture to show up, but not as a partial image as seen from above.
I'm not sure what else to do. Can you please help?
Thanks so much
Lee Ann

Hi,
I have read all of these posts and tried everything and I am at the end of my capability. Would you be willing to look at my site and see what I'm doing wrong? I would like to use the Image page as a thumbnail link in an email for the Write Your Way Clear Page. That is, I want the image to come up when I link to the Write Your Way Clear page.
here's my site: www.carolinewoodwell.com
Thankyou!
Hi Bernadette3 (or Adam7), can you try this for my site https://www.joshlange.com
It was made with Weebly. I am trying to use the image of my name on the right hand side on my Blog page.
I have followed the steps you mentioned exactly, but there has been no change in the Facebook debugger. It keeps showing the Goosebumps image.

Could you please clarify where to copy and paste this code exactetly? I have a limited version of Weebly with Hostgator. Any help appreciated. The thumbnail weebly displays is s**** I need to get rid of it ... my email is [removed personal information]. Please help. Thank you thank you thank you. Best, Sonia
Hi @Sonsoles The OG image code goes under Settings>SEO>Header. You have to also hit the save button in the bottom right corner, then re-publish. It's also a good idea to run the site url through the Facebook Debugger tool.
Hi,
I've tried to find how to change the thumbnail of my different pages when I share them on Facebook, but I couldn't find anything that's working with my site
I don't have Website > SEO & Social Media
When you talk about adding a code, do you mean here?
Is it possible to customize this for each of my pages? Or this is the only place, so every page will have the same thumbnail?
Thank,
Hi @Mathilde_B.
That field is what you use if you want to add it to all the pages of your site. If you want to do it individually for each page, go to the Pages tab within the website editor, then click on a page and click on the SEO Settings button.
Hello, Im struggling with this instructions.
Can you please advise me on how to change the Image that is attached to the link for my site.
I have just published, went to share the link and the image that has come up is not the one i want to be attached to the link, i tryed to figure out your above instructions but i am getting totally confused... Please Help
Thank you.
What is the link you are sharing, @luchiyoga, and have you ever shared it before? It's possible Facebook is using cached info.
hi
It would be great to get a reply to this answer in a more simple format as this is a very confusing answer. Can you please send a clearer step by step guide to this?

Hello. My version of the editor does not have a Social Media section.
Settings: SEO: Header Code
Is it supposed to go in there?
Also, how do I upload an image and know the path to the assets?
Thank you
