How can I change website thumbnail? It is defaulting to a certain photo on my site but I want to select a more specific photo/logo that represents our brand and makes a better first impression when sending the link to potential clients. I googled how to do it and found some code that includes the url for the photo that I want to use and placing that in the page header but didn't work for me.
WIth the classic Weebly drag and drop editor, you can specify a specific image by using a meta tag. Use this URL of an image file with the meta tag like this:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://www.google.com/someimage.jpg" />
Simply replace everything within the double quotes after content= with the URL of your own image, then add it the Header Code field in Settings > SEO in the website editor. You can also do this on a per-page basis by going to the Pages tab, clicking on a page, then adding it to the Header Code field found in SEO Settings. If you haven't already added the image to your site somewhere, you can also add it to a hidden page and then right-click on the image on the hidden page to copy the URL.
For sites built using the Square Online editor, you can do this for every page of your site within the website editor. Navigate to the page, then click on the gear icon on the left and choose Page settings. Go to the Social tab on the popup, then add an image to the Social image option. You can also set one for the whole site by going to Website > SEO & Social Media, click on Update social media, then adding an image on the Social tab of the popup.
Regardless of which editor you have, don't forget to publish afterward. You may also want to use the Facebook debugger to scrape your site again, since Facebook may use older cached images without doing that.
Hello everyone! I tried following those instructions and it is working when I text someone, but it wont show up on facebook or facebook messenger. Could you please help me figure out where the problem is? Thank you so much!
This is the URL: https://www.orthopelvicpt.com/
-I followed the instructions and made the page hidden; in case you need that it is https://www.orthopelvicpt.com/hidden-name-page with the logo I wanted to use on it
It looks like the image is too small, @PTWS. Try uploading a larger image; it should be at least 200 pixels by 200 pixels in size.
Thanks for the advice!
I made the image larger, but it still isnt working with facebook/ facebook messenger. It is working with text messages. Is there anything else I can try? Do I need to send over the code I used?
Hi @PTWS It looks like you Facebook just need to be refreshed. You can do this by using the debugger tool and clicking "scrape again".
You should be good to go now, though!
But it is not just facebook as others have indicated so this is coming from this site and needs to be corrected from here!
This is nuts to just blame it on facebook when the same photo is shared with all social media we share to.
I don't see the <meta=property.... part in my header code. So although I found my image URL, I don't know what to delete and what to keep within the current header code. Some really odd images are populating for my site - ones that are not even on it so I'd like to fix this.
I might not have the right full url of my image I guess? I am working on Mac/Safari and when displaying page source a lot of information is displayed
Hi
Ideally my logo would be the one and only picture appearing when sharing my website url (whichever one I use or whatever page I want to refer to)

Any advice on how to achieve that is welcome.
Kind regards
Natalie
It looks like the changes you've made fixed it, @NataMori. When I use Facebook's tool it looks like it should use your logo now:

Hi Adam
Yes! It works for facebook and now also for linkedin 🙂 Woohoo
Thanks again
Natalie
Hi Adam, the quesiton is facebook related. When I update the website or the blog, publish it I get a prompt to 'share'. What I cant figure out is how to use a specific picture (included to the blog) or after publishing the website (after an update). www.nenagholympic.com thanks,
That can be rather tricky, It's possible to add a meta tag using a specific image URL to the page's Header Code field, although depending on what other images are available it may still use a different image. One thing you can try is to add a regular image element to either the header section (if your page has one) or to the top fo the sidebar. You'll also need to scrape new info since facebook will cache whatever it had before:
What should I do if I completed all the steps described below but now my website's link when I share is displayed simply without any image at all? www.wordtrip.lt
I did everything suggested in your post reply, Bernadette, but when I publish and try to go to the page I have hidden from navigation I get the 404 page not found message so I can't copy the link for photo page. My website is www.belfirebotanicals.com and the hidden page link should be www.belfirebotanicals.com/bannerlink.html
Any suggestions?
