"Feed Reader" element missing

Hi,

From searching around it looks like I should be able to embed a RSS feed into my site using the "Feed Reader" element.  I have looked through all of my elements several times and do not have the "Feed Reader" element which I think would be listed under the 'more' section.

These 2 sites show examples:

https://www.webnots.com/how-to-add-recent-posts-widget-in-weebly/
https://www.webnots.com/weebly-blog-elements/

Any idea on how to get this element added?

Thanks
Anthony

We recently phased out the element, although there are some really great solutions you can use in our App Center instead:

Hi @awboyd,

I've found this to be really good. Easy to set up, reliable over 3 years of use, and best of all, FREE!

That might be what you need.

Cheers, Mark

Thank MJCS!  This is perfect.  I don't know why they would take an element away in Weeby.  Dumb.  But this feed reader will do the trick.

Not free after 30 days though! Just wasted my time setting that up before realising! Thanks a lot!

That isn't good, the reader from weebly was much better.  I purchased the power.io readers, and they do not bring over the photos from the weebly blog pages.  In fact, I can't find one that does.

Please re-phase that element back in...

Yes, I agree.

In fact, I've been pleading and pleading for years about an integrated blog system. See my comments below. In the past, I was able to get around this issue using the Weebly feed reader. Now, I can't even do that! Smiley Mad
Weebly, please bring back the RSS feed, or introduce a blog integration system. All I'm looking to do is embed a blog from 1 Weebly site to another.
Thank you!

I would like to know whether it is possible to have a feed reader show only posts under a certain category.

Basically, I want a system whereby I can promote events through the promoter website, which automatically feed through to the individual artist websites, but I want the feed readers on the individual artist websites to filter so that they only display posts/events that are relevant to that particular artist.

How do I do this? I have searched the internet and no-one else has asked, so I might be the first person.

Many thanks,
Rory

Hello ,

Unfortunately, it's not currently possible to have a feed reader only show posts from a particular category. Sorry about that.

We're very sorry for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we continue to develop Weebly.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance and thanks for your support of Weebly!

Michael

Basically I'm asking whether I can either filter by category in a blog! feed, o r whether I can have 1 feed from multiple blogs. Either way I would have a central events system, and then separate event feeds on individual band websites.

Thanks in advance,

Best wishes,
Rory

The RSS feed for your blog still exists even though we don't have our own feed reader element. There are some RSS options in the App Center which should work with that:

https://www.weebly.com/app-center/search/rss

Another thing you could do to filter posts on your site, is use blog categories for your posts then use the URL of category pages with the "external" option on the pages tab. This would give you links in your site navigation going to specific blog category pages.

Really quite sad removing Weebly's native RSS Feed Reader Element. This is a basic website feature and should remain native and included with Weebly subscriptions. Weebly's transparent motive is to drive users to paid Apps.

I am very very disappointed this basic element has been removed. This has been removed after I sighned up.

Honestly, I'm very disappointed in Weebly right now. The RSS feed is integral to a website, yet you've phased out a key element to websites. Now, I have to pay $29 to get an RSS feed without some stupid copyright logo on it. I pay for a pro account with Weebly, so now I need to pay more for a simple feature. This is rather disappointing.

Those feed readers that are suggested through the app center are worthless.   Bring back Feed Reader element!
