Its no good to have a awesome website that nobody can find on Google. So you ask how can I help that? SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is being first on Google, Yahoo, Bing, Search Now whatever. So in this post I'll show you the best practices for SEO.
Open your Weebly Editor and go to settings at the top navagation. Then go to SEO on the left.
You will then notice something that says "Site Description" here is where you will put an over all description of your site.
Next you will see something that says "Meta Keywords" which are basically tags. Type in a few words what your site is all about.
Next go to pages on the top navagation. Click on a page. Then hit SEO settings.
You will then see discription and tags. Fill this out for every page.
Later we will do part 2: Links and picture tags.

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a limit to how many Meta tag words and phrases you could use on each page? As I have filled them in several times and when I go back to see them a few days later at least half have disappeared.
Thanks!

There is a 250 character limit on the field, so you'll want to reduce what you've entered to fit within that. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi, when I go to fill in the descriptions for the individual pages for the SEO settings, nothing pops up like it use to. For instance, when I hit pages( like i'm told to), I can see my pages, but when I go to click on the pages it asks me if I want to delete the pages.

What page are you trying to edit, @ilikesnow? It sounds like it might be a store page of some kind, in which case you'll manage SEO settings on the Store tab for it. If it's your main store page, go to Store > Storefront and click on Advanced Settings on the right.

What're you supposed to do with the "footer code" and "header code"? Thx.

Hi johnaccurso,
The footer code can be used for site traffic tracking, like Google Analytics or StatCounter. The header code can be used for domain verification, like Google Webmaster Tools (aka Google Search Console). There is more info here:

As for permalinks, when it comes to products, I'll quote Adam here:
That field will let you give a special page name for your product, so instead of this:
http://www.mysitename.com/Store/p3/this-is-my-prod
You can have something like this for linking:
http://www.mysitename.com/Store/p3/myproduct.html
It's the same concept for your pages.
If I run a site for the Maricopa County Soap Box Car Racer League, and I have a page called "Registration for the Maricopa County Soap Box Car Racer League 2017 Rally," that's going to make a really long page name (it would look like this: mysite.com/registration-for-the-maricopa-county-soap-box-car-racer-league-2017-rally.html).
So I can use a permalink to just have it be http://www.mysitename.com/registration.
(FYI, the MCSBCRL isn't a real thing. But it should be.)

SEO is really important for any website that exists. Without SEO no one will ever know that your website exists and without visibility and traffic, what are you gonna do?
People say that the best place to hide a dead body is to place it on the 2nd page of Google Search results as no one goes there. It's very important to rank on the first page for a successful business which is possible through SEO. If you have some trouble regarding SEO check out these two guides
