How can i create a thin margin around the sections?

My website is basically all photos. If you go to one of my gallery pages you can see that the photo is taking up the full length of the screen. How can i add a little margin on each side of the screen so the photo isnt taking up the whole screen. I am using sections to put the photos in.

Similar to this question, how can I add a little margin in between the photos. How can I minimize the size of the section so that there are small gaps in between the photos and so that they arent all stuck together?

Instead of using your images as the background of sections, I would make the background of your sections black (or some other color) and then add a single image element to the section instead. This will have padding around it and also has a lightbox option if you want to use it.
