Meet Your Weebly Community: bobafett
Hi, friends!
It's Friday, again! You know what that means - time for our Community Profile! This week, I'd like to introduce you to @bobafett.
Boba Fett created and runs http://www.gigiyut.com/ has been with Weebly since 2013, and was a beta member of the Community. I'm sure you've encountered Boba Fett around the Community already - he's very helpful and always provides insightful, kind answers to other Weeblies.
Tell us a bit about yourself (personal, professional, whatever you'd like to share).
I am 67 year old. I started creating websites about 3 years ago. I developed the passion of building websites at my son's urging (he was afraid that I might get Alzheimer's). I learned everything on my own. I went to various sites to get criticism on my web design abilities. Initially, I had received very mean and brutal reviews. I did not give up. I kept on ticking.
Lately, I have found few creative web designers who share their knowledge by offering tutorials on various widgets that can be implemented in a website.
I have found Weebly to be an amazing tool. To me it is like a blank canvas. The ability to change CSS/html codes along with embedding html codes offers endless possibilities to create anything one wishes.
Have I been successful in attracting clients? NO!! (It is tough. I don’t try hard either). Recently, I found my FIRST paying customer!!
I am creating a website for her and you can take a sneak peek at http://zen100.weebly.com/ (Please ignore the typography and currently it is best experienced on a desktop/laptop). Later the client will decide if she wants to go with HOME2+Serv2 or 4Box (for 4box to look good on cell phones the content needs to go down).
What resources were most helpful to you when you first got started with Weebly?
The most useful resource was the ability to create FREE websites. In addition, the articles Weebly publishes are extremely useful. The help desk is great 5 star.
What has been the easiest thing about using Weebly?
The easiest thing about Weebly was its drag and drop interface. During that time I had looked at Wordpress, Wix and few other builders. However, based on what I wanted to do Weebly provided me with the path of least resistance and least learning (Of course my first try was a Web version of the Power Point presentations I used to make!)
What has been your biggest challenge while using Weebly?
Actually, none. The biggest improvement I would like to see in Weebly would be the ability to break the single 'White' content section (I like to call it a canvas) in to multiple sections with different backgrounds/images (multiple canvases).
How do you spend your time when you're not working on your Weebly site?
I don't have to work much on my Weebly site, but when I am not doing Zumba (I learned that about a year ago) search the internet for some of the 'cool' things people have done (in a website) and are happy to share/give tutorials.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and love of Zumba with us, @bobafett! We're so happy that you're in the Community - thank you for helping and inspiring other Weeblies every day.
Until next time, folks...
Enjoy your weekend!

Great storye, very inspiring. This man started to learn/create web sites with 64 (!) in order to prevent Alzheimers, his first sites were reviewed and ratings were not so good but he did not give up and today, after 3 years, he have first paying customer. Awesome !
