Meet Your Weebly Community: 310EI
Hi, friends!
In addition to welcoming newcomers each week, I thought it would be nice to feature a particular member of the Weebly Community each week. This week, let me introduce @310EI!
310EI created and runs http://www.310enterprises.com/, has been with Weebly since 2010, and was a beta member of the Community.
Tell us a bit about yourself (personal, professional, whatever you'd like to share).
I started creating websites in 1995 by writing HTML into a plain text editor. Of course, it was a lot slower back then to upload files/pictures for a website when your connection speed was limited by a 14.4k modem.
At the time... people would ask, "Why do I need a website?"
I'd reply, "Because it gives you a way to communicate all the information pertaining to your business or non-profit to potential customers around the globe (24/7/365). In addition, it will save countless hours every month because your staff won't have to spend time giving company information via phone calls. All they have to tell them is to view our website."
One of the first non-profit websites that I created was for an Animal Shelter that I maintained from September 1998 through March 2008. It allowed patrons to download/fill-out applications before coming into the shelter and they could read about the companions that were available for adoption. In addition, it proved year-after-year that people were a lot more willing to donate money to their cause online vs mailing in a check (I used PayPal donation buttons on their website).
In April 2000 I started a business where we offered web design and computer related services. However, in 2008 I stopped offering web design services in order to focus on our customer's computer needs. Over the years we've obtained a faithful following of clients who graciously keep us busy each year.
When I'm not assisting our customer's with their computer related problems, I enjoy spending time with our 5 grandchildren and several indoor furry companions. In addition, I write articles about the products that we use and I answer questions in miscellaneous forums like the Weebly Community.
Other Interests:
Computers, smartphones, linux/android operating systems, rooting, custom ROMs, security, privacy, cool tech/gadgets, travel and photography.
Describe your personal/professional relationship with Weebly. How long have you been using Weebly? How did you get started?
I read an article about Weebly's drag-n-drop interface and I thought that there's no way it could be that easy to create a website (I was still writing code in text files - I still do at times).
I've been a pro member since March 2010 and I've never had any cause to question that original decision. Weebly's drag-n-drop interface is a time-saver when creating/updating website pages, which allows me to focus more of my time on our customer's problems.
There are plenty of Weebly-wannabes available today but none of them come close to changing my mind to leave Weebly.
What resources were most helpful to you when you first got started with Weebly?
Weebly's Help Center was my favorite go-to resource to read whenever I had a problem with something or just wanted to learn about features I may not have found otherwise.
What advice would you give to a new Weebly user?
I would suggest that they take their time to familiarize themselves with all of Weebly's features. It may seem daunting at first but it's really quite easy once you start using Weebly's website editor.
The best place that new members can help themselves learn about Weebly's features is to head over to their Help Center. They should spend time reading those articles because they can learn a lot without needing help from anyone else (or type a question in the search box).
If for some reason you can't find an answer in the Help Center then type your question in the Community search box. More often than not, you'll see that someone has asked the same question and that a community member has already answered it.
If neither place provides a suitable answer then post your question in the Community (be sure to give specifics of: what you've tried to do and the results, which operating system and browser you're using and any error messages if applicable).
If none of the above suggestions can help with their particular concern then they should Submit a Request via Weebly's ticket system.
What is the best part of using Weebly? What is one improvement that you would like to see in the future?
I cannot pick just one thing. I enjoy using Weebly because they offer a vast array of features, an easy-to-use editor interface along with economical pricing. Plus, they have a spectacular customer service/support team that responds to any question asked via their ticket system (not canned replies either).
In my book... any customer service staff that; treats their customers with respect, actually listens and provides helpful answers receives my full loyalty.
That's a tough question for me, at this time I cannot think of any improvements that would affect how I currently use Weebly for several websites.

310EI - Thank you so much for being a part of the Weebly Community, and thanks for being the first Weebly Community profile!
Check back next week for another peek into the Weebly Community.
Thanks, and enjoy your weekend.
