Google displaying wrong page title

Our team changed its name from Premier to Gold-DB. I have made all changes on the website but yet when I search Google, it stills says "Premier" in the title. I am checking Google Search Console.

I admit, I do not know the behind the scenes part of running a website, but I choose Weebly because of the ease of use. I just need this last part! Please help!

@kewlteacher

Have you changed the Page Title in SEO settings for that particular page?

It can take some time for Google to update its search index of your site, although it should happen automatically after they re-crawl your site. You might be able to speed it up using Google's "fetch as Google" tool:

I've had it verified, crawled...everything I know. So frustrating! There has got to be someone I can ask!

Please check the source code of your page do you see title in your meta title tags? is it correct or wrong? or check if you have multiple title tags present in code. Also, You can try changing the title on your website front end because at times google doesnt picks meta tags and it directly picks the test on your website home page to show in search results. Just check where on your home page you have mentioned the title which google is showing at present. Just change that so that next time google crawls your site it can pick the updated title from your page. Forget the changes done in SEO settings.

There are many situations where the search engines won't display your title tag or meta description. Here are a few potential scenarios:

  • The title or meta description you specified isn't relevant to the search query.
  • The title or meta description you specified is too short or too long.
  • The title or meta description you specified is not an accurate reflection of what your page is really about.
  • There are multiple occurrences of a title or meta description specified in your HTML code.
  • You haven't specified a title or meta description.
  • The search engine is ignoring your title or meta description and pulling information from elsewhere, such as Open Directory Project.

In all the cases above except one, there are things you can do to improve the odds that Google will use your page title and meta description. Here they are:

  • Make sure your title tag and meta description fall within Google's length requirements

Make sure your title tag and meta description accurately reflect what's on your page.Make sure you only have one instance of title tag and meta description on your page.ell search engines not to use other directories to pull your information. This can be done with the simple command: <meta name="robots" content="noodp, noydir" />. This will prevent the search engines from using the Open Directory Project or Yahoo Directory as the basis for your title or description, making it more likely that they'll use your title and description.

Hi, @Bernadette. I have changed my site title and site description for better search engine optimization, and also requested indexing by Google for the new ones, but nothing is changing? Is there a way I could access the source code of the site to check if the changed title and meta description are reflected in the source code? And if so what is the procedure for that?

You can view the source code for the site by right-clicking on the live page and selecting "view page source". I'm not sure if that will show you the information you are looking for, though.

Did you re-publish the site after making the changes?

If you do change your title, be sure to use the Inspect any URL tool in Google Search Console to update Google's index with the new change. Sometimes this same issue can happen with meta descriptions. Learn more about it here: Google Shows Wrong Meta Description For My Site.

This is BS.  Weebly has this problem and they aren't doing anything to fix it.  This has been happening on my sites without any explantion.  Previous threads have pointed out this issue several times and Weebly always blames the customer and Google.  Bad.
