How to add text overlay to header image that I upload?

Hello,

I understand that I can add new header layouts and customize them to my needs but it doesn't appear that I can choose one and then add my own background image? 

Is there some way to add text over a header image without using html/css?

Hey Dan! Instead of editing the image itself to add text to it, you'll simply drag a text element right on top of the header area itself.
