How do i get clear product images on my website?

I have taken pictures of the products I'm planning to include on my website using a good digital camera.

Despite these images appearing crystal clear on the laptop, when I upload them to the website they are blurry.

I have tried reducing the pixels to 1000 on the longest side and saved the images with 96dpi but they are still blurry.

What do I need to do to the images to get the same clarity on the website as that in the original photos when viewed on my laptop?
