How do I get animated gif thumbnails in my Gallery?

I have an illustration portfolio, and some of my work are animated gifs.

I'm trying to get the gifs to be animated in the thumbnail- currently I can only manage to view the animation on clicking.

Is there any way I can achieve this?

I don't think this would be possible with our own gallery element since images are converted into thumbnails. It might be possible with a third party solution in our App Center, though you'd have to try and see:
