Pagename vs. URL
Hey there,
I am using weebly to build a website in german. I need to use german umlauts (i.e. ä and ü) as pagename/navigation. However in the URL those special characters need to be resolved into ä --> ae and ü --> ue.
So far I haven't found a way to achieve this.
Any hints or tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jochen

Hello @OMG-Jochen!
Unfortunately HTML cannot readily accommodate page names with special characters and the URL will result in a string of characters that may look strange. I'm sorry to say there's not a way to override that within Weebly at this time. While such characters are converted to HTML strings, search engines can read the characters correctly to properly index your site, but that sadly does not help with the way it appears on your site. My best suggestion for now would be to stick with standard Latin characters for the navigation menu and place headline or title elements at the top of your pages with the corrrect characters.

Thanks for your reply @PeteyD.
Is there no way I can manipulate CSS/HTML (i.e. {{{title_html}}} in item.tpl) so I can either hardcode the navigation or use the "SEO title" to be displayed in the navigation instead? If this was possible I could set the page name as I wish the URL to read and make adjustments for the names displayed in the navigation.
Cheers,
Jochen
