Read More Break customizing

my solution to reduce the spacing above the read more break is to make the paragraph text bottom-margin 0px    or if you have an image above the read more break, make the bottom spacing 0.

you can  tweak the size and colour of the  READ MORE.

add the following:

.blog-post    .blog-post-read-more   a{

color: #000000;

display: inline;

padding: 5px 5px;

font-size: 15px;

}

to change color on hover, add:

.blog-post   .blog-post-read-more  a: hover{

color: #ff6600;

}

AND you can alter the text  of READ MORE  to what ever you want.

I made it  CONTINUE READING

you do this by adding   Jquery coding to each blog page, by entering it in the HEADER CODE under SEO settings on the each blog page, not each blog post, nor general settings.

this is my site    check it out   and see for yourself::

https://nomadicbackpacker.weebly.com/hostel-review

i did not write the Jquery    message me and ill point you in the right direction...

cheers

Hey @whitemonkey Smiley Happy It looks like you just need to set your site address. Open the editor and click Settings, then click Change next to Site Address. OR, you can click on the Domains tab from the dashboard, then click on your domain, set destination, and assign to one of your Weebly sites.

I don't think it's free for the type of plan to choose but I'll double check. Is it okay if I try to assign the domain?

What part is not working??    Changing the colour   or  changing the text?

Please triple check the coding  for typos   as one missed ;   or a -  will render it completely use less.

Pls  screen shot me the jQuery

Hi! I want to customize the "read more" break for my blog posts but I am having trouble following your instructions. Where specifically should I add the:

.blog-post    .blog-post-read-more   a{

color: #000000;

display: inline;

padding: 5px 5px;

font-size: 15px;

}

Best,

Lauren

Hi  @laurenkearns98

Thanks for your question

Sorry if my reply was difficult to follow which was a follow up thread to the original thread

 in the other thread i pointed users to my own blog post that i did detailing the READ MORE BREAK

Heres my post:

https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com/blogging-with-weebly/how-to-customise-the-read-more-break-on-weebl...

Please be aware  that it may not  not work on all themes and also , once u r editting the html ur theme will be classed as CUSTOM   and u wont get too much asistance  from Weebly admin.

Hope this helps.

Not my realm, but I wonder if you can add <style> and </style> to the beginning and end of your code to make it an override? If it works, the full code can be added to Settings>SEO>Header and will keep the theme out of the dreaded "custom" land.

@ruste13 what part of the read more break don't you like?

All I do is change the wording and colour of the text.

If you are not familiar with adding code it is best not to do it.  Cos if you miss one simple , or a ; it will bugger your site up.

Why not use standard pages for your posts?

Hi There, Thanks for the reply!

I could use standard pages for my posts but then how do you insert a read more break?

Wouldnt I just end up with an endless page?

Blog pages you can specify how many posts per page and you also have the options for catagories and archive which you dont have on a standard page.

Cheers Russ

@ruste13  you cannot add  READ MORE BREAK to standard pages.

Yes its true, there are no options for adding categories  on std pages.

What dont you like about the READ MORE BREAK?     TO CHANGE The text, add that Jquery into the header box  for the BLOG PAGE...  SCROLL UP THIS FEED a bit.
