Is this email a fraud / abuse? How do I report it?

Hello. I believe I have a fraudulent email but I can't find anywhere to report it to Weebly for your attention. Do you have an email address for sending non- Weebly emails to for you to deal with?

The email came from weebly.support® <ro.bert1@sanjosetreemaintenance.com>

The wording is an image that I cant copy - if you click anywhere on the image it takes you straight to a website https://llchytr.com/?goal=0_fdca3306d4-1e6461bdc2-355795178&mc_cid=1e6461bdc2&mc_eid=9f69738a4f with a Weebly log-in screen that looks just like yours. Is it yours?

The message says -

"We do not want you to go but unfortunately, your personal or business website will shutdown due to failure in your billing information method. Kindly update your billing information if you want to keep your website running.

As a precautionary security measure, we suggest that you use the above link.

Sincerely,

The Weebly Team"

The above link can't be clicked on - as I've said above, you end up clicking on the message as a whole that takes you to the above website. I typed the web address in and got an error message. When I right-clicked on the message image, this is the link path - https://lashjewelsbeauty.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dc880354d799549ddf691e5f9&id=66ae1d22f3&e...

Hoping you can stop such messages.

Kind regards, JennieWren

@JennieWren

Report that info to Weebly here... https://www.weebly.com/spam

And STOP clicking on anything related to that phishing email - that is one way to become infected with malware!

Thank you. I couldn't find that email option anywhere on the Weebly website. Where is it, please?

Don't worry, none of my 'clicking' was unsafe. It was simply to find the relevant information to help stop others from getting caught. Thanks for caring.

Hi again NJRFTF,

Sadly that spam reporting link is only for spam they we, as Weebly website operators, receive. It doesn't appear to be for reporting emails we as individuals receive in our inbox pretending to be Weebly itself.

Thanks for you're quick and thoughtful help. JennieWren

You should be able to report it by using the "Contact us" on the right bottom under the post after youve logged in (otherwise follow the instructions within the post):

https://www.weebly.com/app/help/us/en/topics/contact-weebly-via-phone-live-chat-or-a-support-ticket#...

Now I must already say that the chance of them being able to do something about it is close to 0%.

It is indeeed very likely a fake mail trying to steal your information. The problem hereby is that the sitelink they use ofcourse isnt hosted on weebly itself and aside from reporting it to Microsoft that there is a fake site.. i doubt there is much that can be done.

The only worrying thing would be is that a fake Weebly site login is very specific.. not everyone has one ofcourse.

So either.. they spread it to every mail in their database and it also goes to the remaining 98% that doesnt know Weebly... or they managed to somehow retrieve information from somewhere that revealed your emailadres as having a weebly website/using weebly.

Hi Powershellder,

Thank you for all those options. NJRFTF suggested https://www.weebly.com/spam - this was the sort of direct email address I wanted so I could forward it. If there is ANYTHING they can do, seeing what someone is trying, will hopefully help them find ways to block it or ward people. I haven't seen anything from or on Weebly along these lines. Also, when I tried to search for help, none of my searches yielded anything helpful. It's frustrating to think trying to stop it is so hard.

Definitely sounds like spam, @JennieWren Try not to click on anything more. If you have antivirus/malware on your device I would recommend running a scan to be on the safe side. You didn't provide any account information, correct?

Hi Bernadette,

I've tucked it away waiting to forward it to someone who can deal with it. Other companies that I've dealt with have asked me to forward the properties of the email to them or just forward the email. Hence my attempt at giving as many details as possible WITHOUT giving them any details. It was frustrating to not have a link to report spam to Weebly that was in plain sight.

My antivirus/malware runs regularly, so all is safe here, thank you.

Kind regards, JennieWren

Hi again Bernadette,

I'm super frustrated!! I can't email Weebly.

I tried the support@weebly.com and received "we don't accept support requests" reply.

I tried every link I could find to contact Weebly in both the Weebly Support pages and the Community Support pages. Very link gives me ONLY a live chat option. Even then, the Live Chat has had a 'please do not use unless it is URGENT' notice for at least two days now.

SO now I have two problems: a spam email I wish to report and no option to email Weebly!

Do you have any advice, please?

Kind regards, JennieWren

Hm.. that's odd. The option to send an email should be on the same page as the chat option. I'm sorry about that. I was able to track down a direct email for the policy team for you: weebly-abuse@squareup.com
