Captions on slideshows

I'd like to put captions on my slides that appear in a slideshow, but if I do the captions, (whether placed at top or bottom of the slide) appear on top of the photo and cover a portion of it.  Can you fix this so the captions appear over or under the slide, not ON it?

It wouldn't be possible to do that with our element right now, though you're welcome to suggest that on our Vote on Features board here:
