Number of blog comments always showing as zero
Hi,
I use the facebook comments plugin on my blog and it has been working fine for a long time.
In the past few days however, the number of comments alongside each blog post is showing as zero even though there are comments after the blog post (if I click the 'zero comments' link then the comments appear under the post).
I've tried updating the comments settings but it is still showing a zero comments count for each post.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jase

Were you using the default commenting system before switching to Facebook, @jase1? I remember something like this in the past happening after switching, though I don't think anything has changed with that so it's weird if it would only show a zero now.

Hi Adam,
A long time ago I was using the default commenting system but it has worked okay since then. I've noticed it showing zero comments on occasionin the past but reloading the page or waiting a while has usually rectified this. It might be the speed with with the page loads or something.
However, oddly, now when I go to edit a blog post the correct number of comments shows while in editing mode. When I update and publish it is showing zero again. So somewhere in the system it does display correctly.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jase

It looks like our engineers are looking into this, @jase1. I've updated the ticket with them to let them know you're seeing this.

Hi again Adam,
Just a quick note, I've taken a couple of screenshots to illustrate the issue.
The first shows the correct comment count while I am in editing mode, the comment count tallies with the facebook comments.
The second screenshot is taken after updating/publishing the blog when the comment count reverts to zero again (facebook comments are still there under blog post). It never used to do this (and it's very frustrating because it looks like there have been no comments when there have!)
Hope we might find a solution soon.
If no fix is imminent, is there a way to modify the html to remove the 'comments' link for now? I looked but couldn't see how to do it.
Thanks,
Jason

Hello Karine! If you're still seeing this issue come up, you'll want to contact support through hc.weebly.com directly. They'll be able to check it out in detail and ensure that instance is fixed ASAP.

Yes, same with me.
All comments counting are showing Zero, despite the fact that there are facebook comments there.
This is a new page, never used regular comments in it.

This can happen because the comment counter is trying to count comments left using the default system, rather than what Facebook comments are there. Unfortunately, the count isn't being hidden for some reason to prevent confusion.
It might possibly be tied to the theme you're using, though. If you switch temporarily to a standard theme and re-publish that will test if that's the case.

I have just created my "blog" page and I am having the same issue. Will this be resolved or has it? Do I need to look for a different service besides Weebly? This will be our means to communicate...

I'd like to add my name to this list as well. At ausportsweakly.com I host several blogs and they all are using the Facebook commenting system, and they're all having this problem.
Here's an example of a blog post showing 0 comments in the blog feed.
...and then... once clicked into it shows that there has been a Facebook comment.
However, even within the post it still says 0 comments and then the Facebook comments are separate. Help please.

Thanks for posting about this, @eroticdiagram. Our team is aware of this discrepancy with the comment number when not using the native commenting system. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how long it will be until they fix or change that. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Alan.
I have the same problem.
At the top of my article says 0 comments but if you go at the end you see facebook comments. How can I change that? I read that you mention that one of the options may be to change the template. But really changing it and choosing mine again means a lot of time lost since I have to configure everything again. I do not think it's a solution.
