Designer Platform - No Access To Apps

Hello

First let me say that I love the Weebly platform.  Being a designer though, I feel like we are driving business to Weebly, however it feels like we are a 3rd world country to Weebly.

1.  We pay more per month per client than the client can do on his own.  This competes directly with the designers by undercutting what we can charge to our clients.

2.  We do not have access to the App store.  This is a big disadvantage to the designers by not giving our clients the full breadth of what weebly has to offer.  It also is a snub to the developers who sell the apps by limiting their markdet.

3. Lack of communication from Weebly as to when this will be corrected.   Give us something to hold on to in terms of an estimate as to when this will be addressed and that you are even considering addressing this.

The lack of communication is disheartening.

Things I would like to see:

1. Lower monthly fees to the designer platform users so we can be on equal footing with Weebly.  Or a least a price break after a designer reaches a certain amount of web sites.

2. New Designer Platform that does not hobble the designer and gives access that every user of weebly has.

3. A designer blog that communicates to all of the designers what actions are being developed and a way that we can voice our concerns.

Thank you so much for your comments and feedback!

You may want to post this in our Vote on Features section, as this is where our Product team visits and checks on Weebly user feedback.

Here are all of the posts labeled with Designer, in case you want to look through what has already been suggested before making a new post of your own: https://community.weebly.com/t5/Vote-on-Features/idb-p/IdeaExchange/label-name/designer

Thanks, and enjoy your day!

Weebly has not forgotten about App Store in designer platform. The problem is mostly to do with going about the white labeled actions, site ID's etc. Options for designers control. As for the price break would you like to see more options for automated billing and then you make a commission instead? Perhaps set your own pricing? There is lots of ways to go about this DP and building a solid foundation from the start is very important. Designer platform is still in its infancy stages and is still fairly new to weebly. I can give some insight but I can't go any further. It's not my place to comment. I will say just be patient cause App Store is not being left behind.

Hi Erin, it has been 2 years and we have not heard back anything from Weebly.

Is it really on its way? Is it happening at all, you need to give us a definitive answer because we are investing the future of our clients' website by putting it on designer platform. If it is not happening, just tell us and we can go find another platform, but I am sure we don't appreciate the lack of update. It's like a guy telling a girl he will marry her and he never pops the question, don't be that guy please.

Keep us in the conversation, make it a dialogue not just a monologue of "we are working on it". Tell us what is happening, why there is a delay etc, we are all smart enough to even make great suggestions.

m8 they choose few peoples they cooperate with - rest of us is treated like half users - you wont know anything about new platform till they finish and peoples who cooperate with them have ready services etc. All your competition gone be ahead of you - thats when they will answer - till than regardless of how long you with them or how much you contribute they will treat you like nothing.

Hi @CarbonThemes!

While I appreciate your feedback, I have to disagree with you. We don't treat our customers differently. In fact, we know that Weebly lives and grows thanks to our customers and their feedback.

Although we may have to focus our efforts on specific parts of the platform at a time (we are human and only have so much capacity), we strive to meet the needs of our customers on all aspects.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound robotic. In honesty, I was trying to be polite.

I'll go ahead and pass your comments along to our Product team, but let me know if I can personally help you with anything specific.

Hi Folks,

Can anyone direct me to where to look to access the "Designer Platform" to edit my client's website? I cannot find it. The Weebly environment is different and I cannot find it.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm about as Weebly beta tester as it gets. I asked them to build designer platform and worked with them though out the entire project.  I dont even have access to these features. It's honestly not ready yet.

Hello to all commenting in this thread !

At the time of writing this post I have about 34 websites operating on the Designer Platform so I have some experience in using it and where I think improvements can be made.

While access to the relatively new Weebly Apps store through the designer platform is essential, I suspect that there are a number of issues holding up this feature, including issues like who gets charged and at what price (client or the designer) when it comes to making an app purchase, particularly if your client has been given access to edit their web pages etc.

I would like Weebly to advise us of their overall development timeline for the designer platform to give us some idea of what features they are working on and when they are scheduled for beta release. I would have thought the developers at Weebly might seek some feedback from their Designer Platform users regarding what features they consider to be important prior to implementing any new functionality. Maybe they are and I'm just not one of them, in that case I apoligise, however, here are a few things I consider important for them to munch on:

  • Search Tab for professional photos
  • Weebly App Centre access
  • Tiered pricing based on the number of live client websites, 5+, 10+ etc
  • Technical support specifically for Designer Platform users ( I get a lot of phone calls from my clients when Weebly goes down and it's a bit embarrassing when you can't get a fast response from Weebly about the problem) Australia does not have a phone number to call or live chat access.
  • Comprehensive website metrics. The current dashboard statistics are too simplistic and I would like to be able to email a metrics report to my clients with comments and explanations regarding what the stats are saying. Once a website has been built and is live, the website owner seems to become very concerned about SEO and how there website is performing on Google. And yes, I do use Google Webmaster Tools for this, but when a client logs in through their portal the first thing they see is their dashboard showing website statistics.

There's lots more, but that's probably enough to be going on with for now !

Have you guys looked at weebly cloud? The timeline for apps on this may be less complicated to launch. You must know that their is a minimum monthly invoice and transferring your existing client sites is not available at this time. The back end is a lot more beefed up. It's basically their reseller platform. The billing is a lot better as well.

I agree that no access to apps is very disappointing.

I can't believe we are coming up on 2 years and still no access to apps. I have over 100 sites develped in my Designer account and still no upgrades. Weebly... when will this feature be implemented? I have customers who love the editor but the limitations are forcing us look elsewhere for other options.
