iPad use with tap

I purchased and iPad to use with the card reader.  Will I have the capability to use tap or pay by phone?

Once you’ve paired the reader in the Square app you’ll be able to take chip payments as well as contactless payments via card and also mobile wallets such as ApplePay and GooglePay 👍

The card reader that plugs into the phone jack will not do Tap or Dip payments only the Magnetic swiping of a Credit Card.

To do the Tap by card or Apple Pay you would need the Square Bluetooth (USB) Card reader.

@SunsetofCochran You will need to have the Square reader for contactless and Chip.  I do not recommend the swipe readers anymore as there was a change in liability a few years ago.  You always want to be taking the payment via Chip or Tap.

Once you pair that to your iPad you can take Chip (inert card) or Tap.

I recently purchased the square register with the customer screen to replace the old iPad and stand system. 100% better.  Was always having to unplug the system for the reader and printer to connect. Got annoying and unreliable.  I moved my old system to use as a second or backup POS which helped me as well during busy times.
