What are the main differences between POS and Square for Retail?

They are actually quite different from a user standpoint with the interface being the main difference.  Square POS (free) is a visual grid layout of items and searchable.  Square for retail ($60 per month per device) is a barcode/scanner based interface.

I find the Square POS app to be great and I don't need any of the extra features of Square for Retail and I don't like the interface as we aren't barcode based.

Thank you.  I am finding this switching of systems from Vagaro to square to be super overwhelming and user friendly... it seems like there should be better explanations so a solo practitioner.  I need a CRM, online booking, online product purchase, and inventory for my skincare products.  Seems like I am wasting so much time trying software only to be disappointed.  Any place where I can get honest.. non salesy deep dive into all of the options that I need before I rip all of my hair out?

@Skinticians I hear your frustration - searching around to a lot of different softwares is time consuming. I'm sorry to hear you have been disappointed in them too. For a full deep dive without talking to Sales, you will need to call into our Support team so they can answer your questions and transfer you to another department (like Appointments) if they are not able to answer your question. 

If you want to compare Square with other systems, you will need to contact our Sales team so they can work with you there, but our Customer Success advocates will be able to get you connected with Sales if you want to talk to them at some point.
