Hey there @Jbizzle78.  Honestly, I’m not sure there is anything you can do.  Federal law requires that anyone opening any bank account in the US is required to present various forms of identification to prove who they are. One of which must be some form of valid and current photo ID.  Banks and financial institutions like Square can not make exceptions.  Usually this photo ID is a state ID or driver license, but other forms of photo ID can sometimes be acceptable.  Your best bet is to obtain a government-issued photo ID because it’s pretty much impossible to be part of the federal financial system without it.

Hello, ok so to the response  .. I understand what youre saying . If that were truly the case then why let us fund the account to begin with. That sounds like a purposely ignored action from square. How convenient they will hold our money. With the excuse of identifying ourself yet before any verification is complete,  they accept all the money deposited into the account .

@AnandyCo Square, like most companies like it, assumes that people have correct identification and just need time to supply it. They were giving you the benefit of the doubt, not trying to scam you. In this case, it sounds like they shouldn’t have done so, but that is not their fault. Now that you can’t provide proper identification, they are required by law to hold the money or to return it to customers. They can’t give it to you without being investigated by the government themselves. That’s the law.
