Update pos error

Hi all, 

 

I’m at my wits end here and I’m getting stressed and frustrated. I have one square reader that just won’t work, no matter what phone or iPad i ask it to connect to, it tells me I need to update the pos application.

 

I went so far as to uninstall the app and re download it but that didn’t work, if I connect another reader then it works, but I can’t keep running at a reduced till count, I know the machines are cheap, but it’s less than a year old, I have emailed support but got no reply.

Hi @TheTavern, I'm very sorry you're running into this. There are a few troubleshooting steps you can try. 

 

First of all, please plug in the card reader for at least 20 minutes to be sure it’s charged. Then follow the steps below to reset the reader: 

1. Use a small object like a hair pin, pen cap or paper clip to firmly press and hold the button on the card reader for 20 seconds or after the 4 lights stop blinking red. Do not let go of the power button until after the red lights have stopped flashing.

2. After 20 seconds, release the button and wait 10 seconds.

3. Press the button again to turn the reader on and observe any lights on the reader.

 

Before you try to pair again, please make sure of the following: 

1. Make sure the device is compatible with Square Reader here

2. Remove the reader from your phone/tablet's Bluetooth settings as well as from the Square POS app. you should see Forget this device option

Thanks Emma, im afraid it didn’t work, and have had to go through a warranty replacement, but thanks so much for all your help!
