Hi, my 2nd gen reader keeps disconnecting from my phone. Takes ages to reconnect. He'd been working fine and can't figure out what is wrong.

Hi @CAFESAL ๐ thanks for flagging this.
Usually out of date software on either your phone or the Square Point of Sale app can cause connectivity issues like you've described.
Can you try updating both and then run through the following troubleshooting steps:
Open Square Point of Sale App:
1) Settings > Hardware > Card Readers > Forget all card readers
2. Force-quit Square Point of Sale App
3. Open device settings
4. Navigate to Bluetooth
5. Forget all Square Readers
6. Hold the button on the reader until the lights flash red
7. Reboot the Device
8. Re-launch Square Point of Sale app, wait 1-2 minutes and re-pair the Reader
If you are still having trouble after please let me know what brand and model of mobile device you have, and I can take a closer look here.

I've had a Gen 1 reader that was disconnecting and then taking ages to connect again and often not connecting at all. To the point that I purchased a 2nd Gen reader to find this reader has connected twice - the first time of use and then surprisingly when a PIN number was required and the customer put their card into the reader springing it into action. Since, this action has not sprung the reader into action.
Having unpaired, restarted iphone13, restarted appointments app, and followed pointers above there seems to be a constant loop of connecting occurring. Top banner on the app is always orange / yellow..
Currently using tap to pay on iphone13 no problem..
Would love it if you could help reconnect me to a reader that works...
Lee
