Square reader not connecting
Square reader and tap to phone not working. I’ve tried forgetting device, turning Bluetooth off and back on, pairing won’t work, turn phone off and back on.

@Lleimer Welcome to the community. Sorry you are having connection issues, here is a list of a few things to try, hopefully one of them will correct your problem.
I know you have already tried some on the list, but I thought I would list them all just in case someone else has issues.
1. Check Basic Requirements
• Ensure your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on.
• Make sure your phone’s operating system and the Square Point of Sale app are up to date.
• Verify the reader is charged.
• Ensure the Square Reader is compatible with your phone.
2. Restart Devices
• Restart the Square Reader:
• Hold the power button until the lights turn off.
• Turn it back on by pressing the power button until the lights flash orange.
• Restart your phone.
3. Reconnect the Reader
1. Open the Square POS App.
2. Go to Settings > Hardware > Card Readers > Connect a Reader.
3. Choose Contactless + Chip Reader or the specific reader you have.
4. Press and hold the reader’s power button until you see flashing orange lights.
5. Follow the in-app prompts to reconnect the reader.
4. Forget and Re-Pair Bluetooth Connection
• Go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
• Find your Square Reader in the list of devices and tap Forget/Unpair.
• Restart both devices and attempt to reconnect through the Square app, not Bluetooth settings directly.
5. Update Firmware
• Ensure the reader firmware is updated. The Square POS app will prompt you if an update is needed during the connection process.
6. Check for Interference
• Remove any wireless interference (e.g., too many Bluetooth devices nearby).
• Keep the Square Reader and phone within 10 feet of each other.
7. Test with Another Device
• Try connecting the Square Reader to another phone or tablet to isolate whether the issue is with the reader or your phone.
8. Reset the Square Reader
1. Hold the power button for 20 seconds until the lights flash red.
2. Release the button.
3. Turn the device back on and reconnect it via the Square POS app.
9. Contact Square Support
• If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue.
• Contact Square Support for further assistance or a replacement if your reader is still under warranty.
