Offline mode $ limit affecting manually entered transactions

I was trying to enter a manually entered credit card transaction (phone order) and the transaction kept being rejected over several days and several attempts.  Finally, I tried changing the "Offline Mode" dollar limit to a higher amount (making it greater than the amount I was trying to ring up in the manual transaction) and it worked.  I don't understand this because it doesn't seem to me that manually entering a transaction while online is the same thing at all as using Offline mode.  My internet connection was available.  Why would the Offline mode dollar limit have any impact on a manually entered transaction?  Is this a bug?

Hi @vivogallery - We don't have access to account specific information here, but I did find some troubleshooting for why payments can decline in Square's Support Center. The major reasons we see for declines is that the zip, cvv, expiration, or card number is entered incorrectly.

You can always contact our CS team for more info on a specific payment.
