Not receiving order confirmations or in my list

A customer-friend ordered and received a confirmation and his card was charged, but I have not received an order confirmation email and it does not show up in my orders list. I had been working on local delivery and it defaulted the checkout experience to delivery, so I turned off delivery. Could his order have been lost if he ordered while local delivery was live?
