My iphone 8 plus not connecting to the magstripe reader

I have a Iphone 8 plus and can't get my reader to connect. It lets me enter the cards in manually but won't let me swipe. I've bought a different adapter, tried a second reader and nothing still. I have the headset jack.

if you are using an adapter other than the one that came with your iPhone then it may not work.  Not all brands of adapters have been tested and some don't work.  the easiest solution is the swipe reader with a lightning adapter.  https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/magstripe-reader
