Logged into wrong Apple ID

I was setting up a card reader and it asked me to log into my Apple ID. I was trying to run forgot password for my business ID and somehow it flipped by to my personal Apple ID. Is there a way to swap it? Thanks!

@hellomettle ;

You can go into settings on the Square POS system and Forget the Card Reader, and then Go to Setting in the Apple Device and then Blue Tooth and for get the device there.

The run through the setup of the Square Reader again with the correct Apple ID settings.

here is some troubleshooting :

It's not the card reader, though. it's seemingly the account? But I literally can't find where to unlink an apple ID.

Hello there @hellomettle,

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know, how bizarre! I have never come across this before. To clarify on the Square app have it has you signed in under your apple id and not your Square login? Can you completely delete and reinstall the app and sign back in? Does that help?

Not exactly. I'm logged into Square, but when I enabled "tap to pay" as an option on my phone (not the card reader) it initiated a request to login to my apple id so as to link to Apple Business Register (or something like that). I can't find anywhere in the Square settings to unlink the apple id and nothing on this board matches my problem. I tried logging into register.apple. com and it doesn't list my business so it's not possible to remove the link (from what I can tell). Stumped!

Hi there, @hellomettle, Violet here, following up for @MayaP. It looks like you're still needing some help so I'm stepping in 🙂

From what you've described, it sounds like the Apple ID popped up while you were connecting your card reader to your device because Bluetooth needs to be enabled in order to use the Contactless + Chip Reader. Sometimes when you edit or allow permissions on your device, it will ask you to sign in to confirm that the device owner is the one authorizing the changes. Whether you entered your personal or business Apple ID info, this should not affect anything regarding Square, so no need to worry!

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

I’m about to set up the tap to pay on my phone and came in here specifically to see if I needed another Apple ID or if I can use my personal Apple ID for this. I haven’t registered an Apple business yet. @hellomettle did Apple business register have you create a separate Apple ID for your business? And did you get your problem corrected?

Sorry I can not help too much since I am an Android guy and had to have my  12 year old setup my Ipads with the Apple Ids etc.   I may be able to ask my Ipad 'Expert' after he gets out of school   lol.   Good luck with figuring this out.
