Item Search Not Working

We're on day three of the item search and the virtual terminal search not working by using a item title/description.

 

In the dashboard both in item library and the desktop Virtual terminal only a UPC will bring up the item. Otherwise any description including the exact description brings up our entire item library. 

 

Anyone else experiencing this? It just started sometime Saturday afternoon.

Square was experiencing a disruption with item search on Friday. Sellers were trying to search for an item and instead the entire library came up. Are you still experiencing this?

I had a different issue yesterday and today I just checked my Items and my virtual terminal and they both seem to be working fine now.

 

My issue yesterday was I went to search for my Item 28oz Pumpkin Patch in my catalog on a computer through a web browser.  When I typed in Pumpkin Patch i had results for all my items that had Pumpkin or Patch in them.  Since I use a Square Stand and a scanner for my items I sell, this did not effect my sales at all.  Today when I tried this I was only getting results that had Pumpkin Patch in the name.  Yesterday the results were for All my Pumpkin scents in ALL diiferent sizes or containers or Items that had the Word Pumpkin in it in the Name of the item.  It also did the samething for the word Patch, so it also pulled up scents like Patchouli.  Which again was in the Name of the item and Not Description since I use Square Description field for some locations in my storage areas.  

So where you typing in the Search area information that is in your Item Name area or the Description area to look up items?

Meaning if I had a description for all my candles as strong scent blah blah blah .... all items in my catalogs description that said Strong scent would show up in search results if i searched for Strong scent for example.  Which might be why all your items appeared in a search result if those words are in the Description of the items also.  

 

I try to search by the Items Name, SKU or its GTIN to get my results the least in my catalog.  I did not know Search results also searched the Description text field until seeing your question and trying it myself.  I tried an ingredient from the description field for my soaps as was amazed the soaps only appeared with that ingredient which would be helpful.  I have soaps descriptions listed as for what they also help with like Eczema and Psoriasis, but may not be in the name field.  So thank you for this question and maybe if you limit your search to Item name it may help you and not produce so many results.  My search issue has been fixed hopefully your was fixed too.

This is precisely the conclusion I have come to as well. It’s as if the search is treating the spaces between words like an “or” operator, not an “and” operator like it always has before. And I can also confirm it seems to only affect the web based interface, and not the registers or apps. Seems to have started late Friday, probably a bug introduced with some patch. They’ll probably get it fixed up when they return to the office tomorrow morning. Good reason to NEVER push code on a Friday afternoon, especially before a holiday.
