Issue with symbol ls2208 barcode reader not working properly.

We have a symbol ls2208 paired with a square stand.  that was working fine for a few weeks, and now instead of a regular scan, the red line is about half the size and gets smaller. I can get it to read a barcode about every 20 scans, but no consistency besides that. Has anyone else experienced, and how did you fix it?

 

Note: Its plugged in, since it’s not a WiFi one, and is connecting when I start up the app. I’ve tried unplugging it/plugging it back in, as well as doing that with the main power source.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the barcode scanner. This is the first time I've seen this issue and I searched the Community for other threads describing a similar issue, but I couldn't find anything. 

 

I will say that they this does sound like a hardware issue. I'm not an expert in barcode scanners, but from years working in retail I never encountered the sensor getting smaller over time. I recommend reaching out to Motorola directly. I had to do some digging but this is the phone number for their scanner support 1-888-325-9336.
