Is there a solution to the Magstripe Reader not plugging into iphones with a case/cover?

I got my magstripe reader about 9 months ago.  It will not plug into the headphone jack of my iPhone 6S because the plug on the reader is not long enough to reach through the thickness of the Otter Box phone case. If headphone companies can make their headphone work with these cases, then Square should be able to as well.  Hopefully there is a new and improved Square magstripe reader available now to solve this problem.  Removing the phone case everytime you need to use the magstripe reader is not practical at all.
