I put my chip card into the reader and automatically it cancels my card

Hi, 

I've verified that my bank is verified. My contactless and chip card reader are paired with my ipod. I try to take a payment for $1 and the light goes 1 solid green. I then place the chip card in the reader and it goes 1 solid red and and says cancel. 

I've tried with two seperate bank cards from two seperate banks and both say teh same. I have even attempted to place the mag stripe reader on the ipod and I swipe and it tells me please insert it into the chip card reader at which point I do. It loads for a few seconds and goes right back to the cancel screen. 

Very frustrated please help!!!

could you post a screenshot of the screen after you hit charge and then insert your chip card?

I have no clue how to post a screen shot it asks me for source and I have no idea what to put. Sorry I'm not that computer literate. I have the photo of both the reader and of what it says
