The way to load gift cards changed a few months ago.
- First head to your Square Dashboard and login.
- Then select the Gift Card tab from the list on the left.
- Click on Plastic Gift Cards option at the top of your screen.
- You'll see a list of preset gift card prices. (Click Edit to change the price if needed.)
- Or if you want a gift card with a custom amount toggle Allow Custom Gift card Amounts on.
Now that your Gift Card item is set up when you go to sell a card just select the gift card item from your list. It will prompt you to enter the amount for the gift card and then swipe the card through a Magstripe Reader to register the card.
Finally, you will check your customer out as normal!
