How do I get the gift card load screen to appear?

When I add a gift card, the screen that asks me to scan or enter the gift card never comes up.  It just asks for a dollar amount then tries to charge the credit card with out ever loading the money on the gift card.  It worked fine 2 days ago but now its not working.
