Can't add DNS Record

I switched from WP and decided to try Weebly. I am very unhappy so far.

Have been trying to set up a pro email address - thru Google Workspace -
for a week. I can't verify my domain with Google because the DNS records
won't add in Weebly. I click Save and Done but it never gets listed to
the DNS Records list. Tried in incognito mode.

I have put in multiple requests for support with no response. Finally got
through to Google Support - after an hour they said that Weebly is the
issue. They also said my host was register . com , which would be nice
information to have. I have never heard of register . com  in relation to this
site. I talked to their support and they said Weebly is their reseller and
Weebly needs to fix this.

This is holding up my business. I had reserved a specific email address for business email and can't get it to work so I can't advertise anywhere. This is in addition to several other annoyances with this platform.

I plan to add additional email addresses and integrate with my CRM app in
the future - I hope this won't be an issue every time.

Please advise on how to help me get the Google TXT record added to the DNS
so I can get the domain ownership verified and move on with my life. It has
literally been a week and I am ready to go back to Wordpress with all my
websites if I can't resolve this.

Hey there @cheriencsc.  Quick question, though I know this is probably a long shot. You aren’t using a free Weebly subdomain for your domain/URL are you?

I don't think so because I paid $200 for it. But I didn't know register.com was even involved...

@cheriencsc there are only so many authorized domain registrars world-wide.  Register.com is the one that Square uses.  That’s a very common practice for web hosts.  Honestly, that is not the problem with your DNS records.  Square Online also uses register.com as the domain registrar, and I can add DNS records just fine there.  It sounds like there may be a bug/problem with your account.

 

I’m going to tag a few Square moderators here to see if they can escalate your issue to the appropriate team.

Josh messaged to say try Enabling Domain registrar lock.
 
I just tried Enabling the Domain registrar lock. It turned on.
 
I tried again to add txt record and hit save but it doesn't appear in the list. Should it appear in the list before I go back to Google and try again to verify?
 
Also, I don't know if I should LEAVE domain registrar lock on after this?

Josh emailed me about this but I have replied and am not getting a response. Am I supposed to be able to respond to emails at <weebly@help-messaging.squareup.com> and continue an email thread?

@cheriencsc AH!  I read your previous post this morning and wondered who the heck “Josh” was! LOL. I’m sorry.  Now that post makes sense.

 

Josh is most likely a support line employee.  This Community is mostly made up of fellow Square sellers, with some Square moderators who are dedicated to issues that come up in the community outside of normal support.  So, unless Josh is also a moderator, he will not see this.

 

Anyway, since the email address did not say “do not reply” in it, you can copy your post above and reply directly to the email.  It will go to the general support inbox and someone (if Josh is not on the clock now) will continue the conversation with you.
