Can I use Square Terminal for printing receipts with my Square Register?

I have a Square Terminal and a Square Register. Instead of getting a dedicated receipt printer, can I use my Square Terminal as a printer for the Square Register?

If they are logged in on the same account, you can tap the navigation bar at the bottom and then tap transactions. Choose the transaction and tap print receipt.

They are both connected to our account but for some reason I am unable to get transactions to show up on the terminal. One thing to note, we were using a laptop with the terminal before we got the register. Could that be a reason it isn't working or am I just missing something?

You can choose to have a 'receipt' screen automatically show once the payment has been made. This includes the option to print a receipt (as well as email, SMS etc).  

We're a table-service restaurant so we also use Terminal to print a 'check' we then take to the table.
