Hi again @DSander👋

This is an adjustable permission that you can find by heading to the Team section of the app > Checkout > Cancel Transactions. When backing out of the pay screen it will still ask for a passcode, but if this permission is enabled for servers, their codes will work.

I hope this helps

Hey @Valentina , this is also true for Square for Retail.  Square Point of Sale has a setting under security to disable this requirement, but it seams Retail and Restaurant do not.  Do you know if this setting is going to be added to Retail/Restaurant any time in the future?

I don't have a timeline to share in relation to this feature possibly being supported for either Square for Retail or Restaurant, but I'll do my best to pop back with an update if I hear whispers of either in the future, @costless!

They really need to fix this for square retail and restaurant. Also, improve the check out screen for shared registers (remove forced log in)

Hi @hank1 - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community. I'm happy to provide a little more context here.

In Square for Restaurants and Retail, a passcode is required to log in to the Point of Sale because we want to be able to keep track of who is performing actions and who checks/orders are assigned to. Additionally, these passcodes let your Point of Sale know whether or not the Team Member has been granted the necessary permissions to perform said actions, as designated by the Square Account Owner.

Because of this, the Restaurant and Retail platforms do not have scheduled plans to allow for disabling passcodes altogether at this time. Although this feature isn’t currently available with Square, I can see how it would be beneficial to your team.

I’ve shared your feature request with our Product Team, as they are constantly improving our products based on feedback like this. To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Hi Violet

could you assist in telling us if the update is now available ? this issue is very frustrating and serves no purpose in fact what it does is interupt a manager to insert their Password and failing that the staff end up knowing and using the managers password which defeats the whole purpose of having a managers security.

Hi @mistersunshines - Thanks for following up on this thread.

Which update are you referring to? If you want to allow your team members/employees to be able to back out of a sale without having to use a manager passcode, you can follow the steps Valentina mentioned above. This is what it will look like from your Dashboard.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

I agree! It is completely unnecessary to enter a passcode to back out of a sale. If the team member has the ability to do it and is logged it, it should go back without prompting for the code again. It's really redundant and just takes extra time. Any updates?

@_Violet I think what the OP meant was that there should be an option where no code is required to back out of a sale.  I am not sure why there needs to be this kind of security for backing out of a sale, or what the thinking is behind.   We request that it be made optional as its an unneeded extra step for our staff. They are already logged in.

Hi @_Violet ,

Is the update available yet to get rid of inputting passcodes for cancelling out of a sale?
Our staff now use their own passcodes, but I'd prefer them not to have to do this, it's time consuming and unnecessary in our work environment.

Thanks!
