WooCommerce discounts

I have square integrated with WooCommerce in Wordpress for online store. What options do I have to set up discounts and sales? I want to be able to introduce sale prices on items, where the original price is displayed but maybe crossed over with a sale price next to it, or something along those lines. Any help is appreciated!

Hello @lostpaddle !

This is definitely doable on Woo. I'm using the plugin for my coffee roasterie, and I've ran sales here and there in the past:

Your biggest challenge will be how much data you have linked between Woo and your Square item library. Woo's items are a lot more configurable than Square's items are (I recommend creating items in Woo and letting them sync over to Square), so the configuration matters a lot. I should also say that I use a lot of attributes and variations with my coffees, so I'm going to show you how I have it set up. Depending on how exactly your products show in Woo may be different, but the end result will be the same.

Full disclaimer: when I started with the Woo plugin, the sync'ing was iffy at best, so I pretty much gave up and only use it for the processing. I build items in Woo only, and on the Woo Square Settings page, I have Product System of Record set to Woo, not Square. Orders that come in still play with inventory, but I didn't want all my categories and non-coffee items to push to Woo. I'm not 100% sure how specials on Woo will translate over to Square if you have full item sync enabled. My bet is Square will show the sale price instead of the actual price.

All you really have to do is find wherever the purchase price is in the item config:

For me, since I use variable attributes (which sync really doesn't like), I need to find the price on my variations screen. when I look deeper on the variation (the up arrow next to Remove will point down when the variation isn't showing all the details), the Sale price is listed here, along with a way to schedule it. If I change the Sale Price to $88, here's how it shows on the customer side:

That should be all you have to do to make the sale price appear! As I said, how it will report on Square is not something I'm fully confident on. Since you're not designating a specific discount item in Square to do this, my bet is it will show the sale price on your transactions list.

Hope this helps!
