Unique one-time use tickets

We want to sell tickets for a small ski hill online. We want each receipt to be emailed (or printed) with a unique code, barcode, or QR code, that can be checked against a sales sheet when the skier arrives, and then they are issued their physical ticket. We want a way to prevent the code from being used twice, but that could be a manual process by crossing the number off a sales sheet.

Basically we want the ability to put a unique code on the receipt, and be able to print or download the "sold" codes so they can be cross-referenced when the customer arrives.

Is there a way to do this?

There isn’t a way to include a single use code to the receipt that I have ever seen. The easiest way to accomplish what you’re trying to do would be to enable e-gift cards. That way the person could purchase your ride ticket ahead of time with the e-gift card, the system would track it and automatically give a list each day of how many were redeemed each day. That would make them single use and save the time of manually crossing off the list. It would mean the person at the top of the run would need a device logged into the square account to redeem the e-card but that’s easy to control via permissions and much faster then hunting thru list. So person would purchase e-card at ticket booth, get in line to top of run, present e-code to person at top for redemption

Hey @chkaloon!

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community, and welcome! 🎉

I believe @RHGray was looking for a feature like this. Did you figure out how/find a workaround to include the QR code on the receipt @RHGray?

In the meantime, it looks like @sayra included a workaround in this thread by uploading your logo as the QR code on the receipts, but I'm not sure how it would remain unique.

Perhaps some of our Super Sellers have a workaround or suggestion for you:

I'll keep an eye on this thread 👀

I don't currently use it but I wonder if there is a way of using Square Appointments as a workaround for this.

Appointments wouldn’t really work in this this situation due to the shear volume and I don’t believe that it’s possible to pre-pay appointment. Could be wrong since it’s been a long time since I played with appointments app. But even if it was possible to pre-pay with be a lot slower. The faster the better when dealing with a line of people

That's a good option. They will need to come into our yurt to get a physical ticket, but we could scan the e-card for the cost of the ticket. We could also make the e-ticket amounts multiples of ticket prices by default. We'll have to try that out unless folks think of any gotchas to this.
