Square Register Individual Items Dollar Amount Discount

Did Square remove the option to discount individual items on the Square Register by one of our preset dollar amount discounts? Note: I'm not looking to discount the whole ticket, just individual items within the ticket. I see you can still use % discounts on individual items but the dollar discounts seem to not be available anymore.

Why would Square remove this option? Does not even make sense.

I can still Create a discount based on Dollar amounts in the Square Dashboard.  Then down farther you select if it gets applied automatically to an Item, category etc.   When you ring up a sale you can touch and swipe to apply the discount.  I also just looked and I can still create a discount on my Square Stand (Ipad) by $, %, Variable $ and Variable  %.   I just go to the 3 menu bars in the bottom left, Choose the Items, Then choose Discounts, Then Create Discount.

Maybe it's because we are in the beta program but we can no longer apply a dollar amount discount to an individual item on the square register, only to the total ticket. I need to be able to discount individual items by dollar amounts, usually dollar amounts we don't have preset buttons for.

Can someone from Square please look into this for me?

I just tried this again and now I can no longer apply a variable discount to an item either just the total bill.  I am also in the Beta program but Beta app is not on my Ipads just on my cell phone (Android)

Yes @twhinteriors, this feature seems to be missing from our new App experience. While it gets implemented you are able to switch back to the previous experience by visiting More > Settings > Checkout > Revert to previous experience.

Yes, I experienced the same issue today when sharing a saved Ticket with a client. It appears I can no longer add a $Amount discount to a single item. 

Even more confusing, the $Amount added to the total order shows up on the ticket as a discount on each and every item in the ticket! My client was confused and assumed we had (in this case) added a $12 discount to each item of the order and tried to correct us on our math stating that, 4x$12 should equal $48 dollars (not the $12 that was discounted at his request by deleting a $12 grilled chicken option on his catered salad). I’m hoping this doesn’t become an issue but I do see his point.

If we add a $12 discount to the order, why is it necessary for the system to attach the discount {in parentheses} to each item in the order? I’ve attached the order in question for reference…

We have this issue as well. I asked about a fix for this and I was just told to make a feature request about it and maybe it'll get fixed one day... I'm not holding my breath.

A few months ago I went round and round with tech support to fix this issues about not being able to actually apply a dollar amount discount to an item. They told be they would send it to the engineers and get back to me. Still haven't heard anything since October.. All I wanted to do was create a button to subtract $1.50 for the customer not wanting a side with their sandwich. Shouldn't be that hard to create.

Create a $1.50 discount.

Now since it is a $ amount discount this gets applied to the entire cart / order and not an Item.

So on my Ipad in my Square stand on the Checkout tab I have a Green Button that shows Discounts which has my $$$ discounts in it.  The button is confusing since it shows Discount % in this green button.   ANd when you slide to apply a discount to an Item the $ discounts that are created do not show up.
