Refund via Store Credit over $2000

Since Square caps the gift card limit at $2000 how can I issue a customer a refund of over $2000 via store credit? I'm using the Square Register and even issuing to multiple gift cards does not appear to be an option. Also, issuing a refund to a form of payment other than the original method or gift card is not an option, which makes no sense. There should, at the very least, be an 'Other Payment' button.

What is Square's reasoning for capping the gift card amount at $2000? I came from Shopkeep where the limit was either $5000 or $10,000 per gift card.
