Receiving New Stock - Not Taking

Hi - Lately, when we go to receive new stock that is not in our inventory (Inventory -> Receive Stock)  - the new item is not being recorded. The steps are followed as usual but the new item is not found in the library of items or when we go to checkout with the item. As a workaround, I am having to go to the Settings - Items - Create Item - and go through the steps of creating an item. This takes longer and it doesn’t record the vendor. Anyone else having this issue? Any advice?

I just did what you are saying you did.  I was on my Square Stand, Inventory Scanned and Item that was not in inventory and Added.  On that stand I could see the Newly added item there.  Now on my other stand it took awhile for it to show up.  Maybe till the STand I entered it in uploaded it to the Cloud, and then till my other stand got the information from the cloud.  My point here is it did go in asa new item just took awhile for all areas at my store to see it.  Now the only way to help this go faster that I have found, is to log out then back in to your Square Pos App.  This gets the lates Catalog from the cloud.

Thanks Keith - I see what you are saying, but we have one square stand so a little different scenario for us. And, I can create the item through the Items -> Create Item steps and it appears right away.

Something else I noticed is that in the past when we Receive a New Item that's not in our inventory, after scanning the barcode - Square would auto-fill a description and we would only need to fill in the vendor, cost, price, category ... But, Square is no longer doing that.

Hey there @gotrisports

 

The autofill function for the description should be available whenever you use your item's GTIN number. That being said, not all items will be in our database. However, if you're saying this isn't happening with all items that you're adding, I would suggest reaching out to our Retail Team, so they can take a closer look at this for you.

Hi JJ - thanks for the reply. Yes, that was the issue - the GTIN was not pulling the autofill description - but after the recent update, the matter seems to be resolved and the Receiving Stock function is working as before. Thanks. Alfred
