Printing across both columns of my labels

I am using a Zebra ZD410 label printer, and have the label size:

  • Zebra Label: 1 - 1/2” x 1”

There are 2 blank labels across each row but when I print it only prints one 1 side of the row completely wasting the right row of labels. Anyone know how to solve this to print on both labels across each row?

Thank you!

@Museum2022 ;

Are you using Square software to print these labels, or are you using the Zebra Designer 3 software or something else?

If you have labels in a ZD410 Label Printer they should most likely be on a Roll and only have 1 label across.

Is this what your Printer Looks Like:

Zebra ZD410 Printer

( ZD41023-D01000EZ )

Print TechnologyDirect Thermal Only
InterfaceUSB, USB-A
dpi (dots per inch)300dpi
Max Media Width2.0-2.9 inch
Printer LanguageEZPL
ComplianceTAA Compliant

Maximum Media (Label) width is only 2-2.9 inches, at 3 across would be 1.5 x 3 or 4.5 inches with no space between labels, or 1 x 3 or 3 inches across with no space between and still be over 2.9 inches.  Your labels should look like this for a Zebra ZD410 :

If this is not what your printer looks like or labels can you attach what you are using because I do not understand how you have 3 - 1-1/2 in wide labels fitting into a 2.9 inch max label width printer.  I have 5 Zebra 420 printers and print all types of labels with them.

Here are just 2 of my 5 and if you look behind them are the Rolls of labels for these types of printers.  Now you can get smaller diameter ones that fit inside, but these larger rolls are more cost effective.

I would be glad to help you just trying to understand your hardware and labels your using.

Thank you Keith!! So kind of you to help. I am using Square software to print. I do have the Zebra ZD410 printer but it does look wider than the one you sent a picture of, and my tape is wider, than the pictured one and has 2 labels across vs just 1 on each row. These are the labels I have: Zebra 10010052 DT 2.375 x 1 Z-Select 4000D Removable Barcode Labels

Is there a way to configure the Square labels to print on these? Thank you again for your support!

@Museum2022 ;

With Squares internal methods of printing labels for Zebra Printers, you can not select a label that has 2 labels wide just one.  Also your labels are actually 1-3/16 x 1" and 2.375" overall width which makes more sense now.

My suggestion to use these labels would be to download the Zebra Printer Software.

here:  https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/printers/desktop/zd410.html

And here :

https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/printers/desktop/zd410.html#pageandfilelist_ee4c

I use the Zebra Designer 3 free version which lets you set the specified number of labels across and height of the labels.

The only thing with this is you can not connect to the csv file from Square for free, you need to purchase the Designer 3 Pro version which is about $345.  https://sites.fastspring.com/zebratechnologies/product/zebradesignerprofessional3

So here is what I do to create my labels in the Free version of Zebra Designer 3.

I have my 5 printers setup with there own specific labels.  In the software I created 1 Template for each Label and save it to a Folder on my Desktop.  In this Folder I have sub folders for each Supplier or for My own products.  I then create a label and save it to the correct folder for easy access at a later date to print more.

My Label Folder for my products looks Like:

Labels

    28oz

    16oz

     8oz

(then the name of the label)

            Apple Pie

            Banana Nut Bread

             etc.

The reason I have it setup like this is for easily finding the label for the correct product since I have my barcodes in each label.

After I have the label created and save, I just click the Banana Nut Bread in the 16oz folder, hit Print, type in how many I want and then hit enter.

Here is a video on how to use Zebra Designer 3, and starting at 10:30 or so id how you set it to print multiple labels across.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS5gwiorQ6s ( this is about 22 min long from a designer )

I would recommend watching the entire video as it shows you how to use the software and setup barcodes etc.  I used this video to setup my printers to at first print out QR codes as my barcode for my 2D scanners, now I use Aztec Codes for my 2D barcodes as they are a little smaller than a QR code and can hold more characters or Data then a QR code with better error correction also.

This is a shorter video ( just under 12 min long) with how to install and design a label and a simple way to save your file to use later...(this is how I save my files to print my labels later)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxXEdm0lENw

Now to get your Item name and barcode in to your labels, you would either need to copy and paste them or type them in manually for each label..... long and tedious but you can add more information in extra text boxes like Your company's name, website, phone number, Was / Sale Price, graphics etc.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear but Square only has a limited number of label sizes it prints to depending on the Printer.

Here is their support page for what labels are supported:  https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6093-create-and-print-bar-code-labels-with-square-for-retail

As you see in my picture above I have a custom Label that I print my Scent and Aztec code into on the left, and on the right I have Barbell labels for other items.  Neither of these labels I could print directly from Square.  My custom label is a Thermal Transfer label stock and the White Barbell label is a Direct Thermal label stock.  I use 3 Direct thermals and 2 Thermal Transfer printers so I do not have to keep switching rolls on and off the printers.

If you have any other questions let me know.
