Pair items for inventory tracking?

We have items essentially duplicated- one set with public pricing and a second set with volunteer pricing. We need to keep this as simple as possible for our volunteers, and the discount varies, so simply adding a "volunteer discount" won't solve the problem. 

For example, we have Short Sleeve Shirt and VOLUNTEER Short Sleeve Shirt, both with sizing options. We'd like to track the inventory of the different shirt sizes as a whole. Is there some way to tell Square that inventory for these two items should be tracked together? Or is there some better way to set this up that will be easy and straightforward for volunteeers?

Hi @smurfgirl.  Each Square item has its own inventory, and there is no way to associate items together for inventory purposes.  

Honestly, a simple volunteer discount is the best way to handle this right now, especially if as you say you want to keep this a  simple as possible for your volunteers.  That discount would be either percentage or whole dollar and could be as simple as the least discount amount that is possible for all volunteer items. 

You COULD go through the process of having two locations — Retail and Volunteer — that share the same inventory.  But you’d need to review the Square help documentation on sharing inventory across locations to be sure that this would work exactly as you want it to.

Otherwise, you’d need to head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to the appropriate POS team asking them for a new feature to associate inventory across multiple items.  However, this would obviously only start a process of evaluation, etc, and would not solve your short-term problem.
